Fire in Honduras prisons leaves dozens of inmates dead

A fire at a prison in Honduras has left dozens of inmates dead and others injured.

Initial reports about the blaze at the jail in central Honduras, say about 100 people have been killed.

Firefighters say those killed were either burned to death or overcome by smoke; with some survivors escaping by breaking through the roof and jumping from the building.

The fire broke out late last night and took more than an hour to be brought under control.
