Plans to develop Browne's Beach
February 21, 2012
The People’s Empowerment Party (PEP)
has claimed that business consultants are developing a plan to offer up Browne’s
Beach as the location for a number of foreign hotel companies to construct
lavish five star hotels on Brown’s Beach in St Michael.
In a statement issued
yesterday, PEP’s president, David Commissiong said that he had spoken with one
of the consultants on the proposed project.
Mr Commissiong also
criticized the proposal, saying that Browne’s Beach is much too sacred to
Barbadians to be sold off to the highest bidder. He adds that if there is to be
any tourism development along Browne’s Beach, it should be owned by and
evocative of Barbadians.
