Royal visit update

February 22, 2012

Minister with responsibility for the Royal visit of the Earl and Countess of Wessex later this week, Dr Esther Byer Suckoo, says she hopes the event will be enjoyed by the island’s youth.

She was speaking to the media yesterday as she gave an update on the visit on Thursday and Friday, which will involve Prince Edward and his wife Sophie attending a number of functions.

Dr Byer Suckoo says even though Barbados is independent the Queen is still the Head of State and it’s therefore important for young people to understand this part of Barbados’ heritage.

Meanwhile Assistant Commissioner of Police Emmerson Moore, says law enforcement officials are well prepared for the visit.
