Barbados Cricket team will oppose the Netherlands

January 12, 2012

The Barbados Cricket team is set to open its campaign at the Caribbean 20/20 Championships, at North Sound in Antigua, tonight.

The local team will oppose the Netherlands at 8.

Led by West Indies vice captain Kirk Edwards, the team should be reasonably confident, having won the UWI T20 Festival, at the 3W’s Oval last week.

During that competition, Dwayne Smith was in exceptional form as an opener and will look to continue in a similar vein.

The pitch at the venue has been somewhat slow and low in matches so far and while Barbados will have plenty of pace and seam bowling options, the spinners, led by Sulieman Benn, are likely to play a major role.

Jamaica face Sussex in today’s opening game at 4.
