Barbados tennis players register victories

Top Barbados players Haydn Lewis and Darian King, who are preparing for next month's Davis Cup tennis encounter with Paraguay, registered victories in the early rounds of ATP Futures tournaments in Florida and Mexico.

King, currently rated among the top 700 players in the world, moved into the second round of a Grade 1 tournament in Mexico with an impressive victory over Australian Chris Letcher.

King, who came through qualifiers to secure a place in the main draw, defeated the higher ranked Australian 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

Left-hander Haydn Lewis, secured a spot in the doubles quarter-finals of the Audi Pembroke Pines Tournament in Florida - as he and Bahamian partner Marvin Rolle secured a 6-3, 6-4.
